Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Matcha Base:
    • In a bowl, whisk 1 teaspoon of matcha powder with 1 tablespoon of hot water. Whisk vigorously until the matcha is fully dissolved and a frothy layer forms on top. While a milk frother works, we recommend a chasen for ultrafine bubbles, which enhances the natural sweetness of high quality matcha!
  1. Heat the Milk:
    • In a saucepan, heat 1 cup of milk over medium heat until it's warm but not boiling. (Matcha starts to release bitter tannins at around 140 degrees f, and rapidly bitters over 185 degrees). This is where you can put your milk frother to use! Use it to create a creamy texture.
  1. Combine Matcha and Milk:
    • Pour the prepared matcha base into your favorite mug or Chawan (matcha bowl). Slowly pour the warm milk over the matcha while stirring gently to combine the two.
  1. Sweeten to Taste:
